Nightwatch Canteen.

Nightwatch Canteen is a mobile mission serving meals to those in need.

Volunteers needed each month. Coordinator(s) are needed to plan the meal and purchase food and supplies. Additional volunteers are needed to help with food prep and serving. This project is shared with Sioux Falls area United Methodist churches. Follow this link to volunteer.

Monday Nightwatch. Hilltop is also sharing with other churches to provide a Monday evening meal at Hayward Elementary School. Approximately 95% of the meals served are to children who live in the area and attend Hayward Elementary. Their teachers are so dedicated to the well being of their students that they help serve meals several times during the year. On the dates teachers will serve, no other serving assistance is needed.  Follow this link to volunteer.

Sioux Falls Banquet.

Hilltop looks forward to serve and continued support of the important work the Banquet is doing in Sioux Falls. Our church serves meals— supper and breakfast. Typically we serve in the summer at the West Banquet site and in the fall at the downtown Banquet. Our youth, with assistance from some of our adults, also serve breakfast twice a year.

HUMCmeals

Hilltop United in Ministry and Care encompasses a hands-on mission of cooking, fellowship and hospitality. Servants meet at the church to prepare, portion and package nutritious meals. The meals are frozen and available for delivery to anyone who is recovering from surgery, illness or otherwise unable to prepare meals.

Lunch is Served.

Fifteen volunteers gathering at Emmanuel Baptist Church make sandwiches and pack lunches for Sioux Falls working poor—many who are employed work all day without lunch because they often have to choose between purchasing food, paying rent and covering other living expenses. These lunches help to ensure they will have nutrition at mid-day and are able to put in a full productive work day.

Meals on Wheels.

Hilltop individuals have volunteered for Meals on Wheels for several years. This program consists of a hot meal delivered to the doors of recipients 60 years or older and home bound—meaning they spend most of their time at home or are unable to prepare healthy, consistent meals in their homes for medical or social reasons. Meals on Wheels is a donation-based program.

Other Mission Ministries

Hilltop provides a free outdoor food pantry for anyone to help themselves to anything they need. During the winter months only dry foods are stocked. When the weather warms up, canned foods and foods in plastic containers are included. For Union Gospel Mission we also collect old clothing to be sent away and made into shingles. UGM receives a generous contribution from the shingle company. Cloth shopping bags are collected for the Sioux Falls Mobile Market and plastic bags are collected to for recycling into benches.
